Other Lighthouse Information:
The Biloxi lighthouse survived several Hurricanes over the years. In 1969 during Hurricane Camille the sea's surge was 17 ½ feet and in 2005 Hurricane Katrina had a an average of 21 ½ feet above sea level. Hurricane Katrina's storm surge enveloped a third of the 64 foot tall lighthouse. The Gulf Coast was devastated but is slowly coming back. The lighthouse's rededication ceremony was on February 19, 2010 and the lighthouse has been reopened for tours. During the holidays it is decorated.
The Lighthouse Hunters Experience:
It was easy to find this lighthouse because it's on the median on Highway 90 in Biloxi, Mississippi. We were in a rush in 2004 so we only took a few shots. The next time we go we'll take many more photographs.
Photographed it: March 24, 2004
