It's a square pyramidal steel skeletal tower with central cylinder that stands near the south side of the Duluth Aerial Lift Bridge. Steve Sola and Matt Kamph of Duluth, MN purchased the Duluth South Breakwater Inner lighthouse for $ 31,000.00. They were the winners of the online auction after no qualified groups wanted to take control of the lighthouse in December 2008. They have a nice view from the top of the light.The Lighthouse Hunters Experience:
When we first saw this light in 2001, we walked on the opposite breakwater. Then in 2009 we were on the Vista Fleet Harbor Cruise. During the 90 minute cruise we slowly pass the three lighthouses and went under the Duluth Aerial Lift Bridge. The boat took us through the canal out past the two outer breakwater lights. We finally got the perspective of a ship coming into a safe harbor. It was a nice inexpensive boat trip. The following day on our way out of Minnesota we stopped by again. I stood on the Lift Bridge and took a picture of all three lights in the same shot.
