Seeing this light, Buffington Harbor Breakwater, and Indiana Harbor East Breakwater is a problem because they are blocked by a large industrial complex. One can use Coho Magic Charters to see these breakwater lights in Indiana in 3 ½ hours. They are out of Robert A. Pastrick Marina in East Chicago, IN.The Lighthouse Hunters Experience:
On June 27, 2010, we 83 passengers and 5 crew of the 110 foot Keweenaw Star departed from the Eldean Yacht Club in Holland, MI for our four day Ultimate Southern Lake Michigan Excursion. On our first day of this cruise we photographed 10 lighthouses during our 94 nautical mile steam. We saw in order the Holland Harbor, South Haven, St. Joseph North Pier lights, Michigan City East Pier, Old Michigan City, Michigan City East Breakwater, Gary Breakwater, Buffington Harbor Breakwater, and Indiana Harbor East Breakwater. While on the water we crossed from the Eastern Time Zone into the Central Time Zone. At the end of our 7 ¼ hour cruise on Lake Michigan, we were bussed to our hotel in Hammond, IN. We had a fantastic day with our fellow lighthouse hunters from GLLKA. This was our 1,187th lighthouse seen.Photographed it: June 27, 2010
